You guys know that I’m always on the look out for free ways to enjoy a destination. I’m a firm believer that you don’t have to spend a fortune to get the most out of a place, and of course that the best things in life are free!
Melbourne is a notoriously pricey city, but it doesn’t have to be, there’s plenty of free things to do in Melbourne as well.
So here’s my list of free things to do in Melbourne, my current base and all-round fantastic city!

Visit Melbourne Museum (free with an international student card)
Have a browse around Melbourne’s markets, my favorites are Queen Victoria Market, Rose Street Market and Prahran Market
Look out for festivals and the free events that come with them (Good Beer Week, Jazz Festival, Literary Festival to name but a few!)
Relax in the beautiful parks (The Botanic Gardens, Fitzroy Gardens and Carlton Gardens are perfect picnic spots).
Photograph the street art in the laneways
