After hearing rave reviews I had to check out the Abbotsford branch for myself.
It’s a bit of a weird one to find, hidden in an eerie convent building on the edge of Yarra Bend Park.
The long walk from the city left our tummies rumbling. We were ready for lunch.
The menu changes daily and we were treated to lentil dhal, Sri Lankan curry, coconut rice and salad with delicious balsamic dressing. Our plates were heaving with yummy guilt-free goodness.
At Lentils as Anything there are no prices on the menu. It’s not because it’s posh or pretentious, it’s because you pay as you feel.
Lentils believe that everyone deserves a seat at the table and are a not-for-profit organisation.
When I was there seats were taken up by colourful hippies, smart businessmen and chatting students.
Lentils as Anything has been running for 15 years now, so this pay as you feel philosophy obviously works.
They have branches in 4 Melbourne locations and 1 in Sydney. If you’re ever in town, pull up a seat and get involved!
